Rodalquilar is a village of mining origin situated in a valley of unusual beauty, surrounded by a circle of mountains and mining hills, now inactive. The fact that it is in the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park has favoured the restoration of some of the houses in the old village which are interspersed with the houses in ruins. The ruins of the mines and the castle for coastal defence, built in the times of Carlos III, are interesting.
